This is the first year where my home was not bombarded with trick-or-treaters. Probably because I live on a busy road... I see trick-or-treating more as a "quiet street" thing as less busy, quiet streets can be used to one's advantage. Main advantage is the Rimmer alternative, commonly known as running away (in case the person who opens the door turns out to be an extremely irritable person who tells you to piss off then chases after you while claiming Halloween is for idiot kids with no education... gee, thanks Dad... that was sadly the first and last Halloween I ever celebrated as a trick-or-treater). Seriously though, I'm kind of disappointed since I was looking forward to see how creative people were with their costumes and bought candy.
What I'm also disappointed about is the lack of creativity (or clothing) of some people who go to Halloween parties or trick-or-treat. As much as I enjoy the eye candy (emergency and school girl uniforms with a sexy twist are particularly popular), Halloween doesn't seem to be the appropriate time to dress less, and it's barely spooky (depending on the look of the person and what floats your boat, the level of spookiness can be contested).
Halloween night was scary (how I easily get scared and told to be brave before sleeping). Cam and I spent the night on MSN reading, discussing and linking Pokémon theories and creepypastas. One might argue that the games are just for kids and there's nothing scary about it; believe me, there are heaps of mature themes in the games (besides one's untreated gambling addiction at Celadon or Goldenrod). What will forever haunt me about the Pokémon games are the original first generation Red, Blue and Yellow. I owned and played each game, but for each one I stopped at a particular point. That point is Rock Tunnel and prior to getting my brother to help me (thanks bro!), it will be remembered as the first (three) times I rage quit (at 8 years old, hahaha!). After my brother helped me (thrice), I picked up the games again and moved on to Lavender Town. I could only get past this town while it was broad daylight and if my family was home. I was even afraid of doing house chores in case a ghost crept through the walls and scared me (whenever I was home alone, which was most of the time). The volume was always off as the music was beautiful, sad and creepy [link1], [link2]. Thanks to the Internet, there's also this little ditty to make something once creepy to be hella creepy [link3]. For anyone who are prone to dizziness, migraines, seizures, epileptic fits (just to name a few) due to audio sensitivity, I recommend NOT listening to the last link. Everything was okay until close to the 9 minute mark, that's when I started feeling dizzy and experiencing flashing lights (strangely it happened though it wasn't caused by visuals :/).
Anyway, it's time to catch up on food, work and prayers. It's always at this time I feel closer to my grandparents, so I pray they are well.
